2. "DESY" internal Network
2.1 "DESYiot" internal network - 2 Ghz

Currently supported WLAN standards are 802.11n/ac/ax with a bandwidth of up to 1.250 Mbps.
The wireless network at Zeuthen is nearly available on the whole campus.
The network interface of the device has to have DHCP enabled to get automatically an IP address.

DESY employees are strongly advised to use "DESY" with their company-owned devices and "eduroam" for all other devices.

The installation or operation of private WLAN-SSIDs or access points or the use of WLAN-SSIDs or access points for unauthorised experiments is not permitted.
 
If you have problems to connect to DESY-WLANs (e.g. because of received signal quality is to low) please contact UCO (uco-zn@desy.de).

1. Guest Networks

The guest SSIDs are mainly provided for guests staying at DESY for a short time. The access rights basically correspond to those of anonymous external hosts.

1.1 "DESY guest" - 5 Ghz, Wi-Fi 6 , OWE encrypted
To use this wireless network no registration is necessary. Connect, accept the terms and conditions page an go on.

1.2 "WiFi-unsecure" - 2 Ghz, Wi-Fi 4 , unencrypted
No registration is required to this wireless network. Simply connect, accept the terms and conditions, and proceed.

This network is designed for onboarding eduroam and older devices with compatibility issues. However, it is not recommended for regular use. For better stability security, utilize the " DESY Guest" or "eduroam" network.

1.3 "eduroam" - 5 Ghz, Wi-Fi 6
This wireless network can be used by guests whose home institutes offer service eduroam and by DESY employees as well.

For authentication 802.11x technology is used. The data transfer is encrypted with WPA2 algorithm.
 
Important note: DESY employees need to login and register the cert at www.easyroam.de

1.3.1 "eduroam legacy" - 2 Ghz
This network is intended for older devices with compatibility problems. For stability and security reasons, try to use the SSID "eduroam". The login credentials are the same than in "eduroam".

2. DESY internal Network - 5 Ghz, Wi-Fi 6

The DESY Computer Security Council (RSR) issued a set of rules and recommendations to be followed by anyone operating computers attached to the DESY internal network.
To use this wireless network it is necessary to activate the WIFI resource by UCO.

Wireless network interfaces of devices registered at DESY Hamburg are considered trusted devices in Zeuthen.

• This is only for DESY owned computer devices (no phones or tablets)
  
• Only in 5 GHZ 802.11ac/ax high performance band
  
• Wireless network interfaces of devices registered at DESY Hamburg are considered trusted devices in Zeuthen
  
• Login will be possible with the DESY user name and WIFI password
  

2.1 DESYiot Internal Network - 2 Ghz
This network is reserved for DESY`s IoT devices, special printers and measuring devices. Registration must take place via Form IT-System Registration at (uco-zn@desy.de).
