Backup and Archive Policies
What is in the backup ?
- Data in registered AFS volumes recover_data_from_AFS (or ask the afs administrator of your group)
- Data in registered central filesystems under WINDOWS and UNIX/NFS
On UNIX backup client machines the configuration of filesystems included into the backup
you find in the file /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsm.sys
Don't edit this file - it will be overridden by cfengine
How long are data kept in the backup ?
- Data in AFS directories are kept for at least 6 months in the backup.
- Data under UNIX/NFS and data under WINDOWS:
* from files that still exist in your directories 20 versions are kept in the backup
* from files that have been deleted from your directories 19 versions are kept for 90 days
and the last version is kept for 365 days
How to restore data ?
- For data in AFS volumes see recover_data_from_AFS .
- For data under WINDOWS you may access shadow copies which are produced outside TSM. Please read Backup under Windows or contact uco-zn@desy.de to restore data with TSM.
- For UNIX/NFS please contact uco-zn@desy.de.
- For archived data please contact uco-zn@desy.de
